Senior DBA
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and cloud-based database management within AWS environments. This individual will play a key role in optimizing, securing, and scaling our OLTP systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available PostgreSQL databases in AWS.
- Optimize database performance for transactional (OLTP) workloads.
- Ensure database security aligns with best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Perform backup and recovery operations and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
- Monitor database health, implement tuning strategies, and automate routine tasks.
- Collaborate with DevOps, application, and security teams on architecture and deployment.
- Conduct audits, patch management, and role-based access control.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of progressive DBA experience in production environments.
- 4+ years hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
- 5+ years managing databases in AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2-hosted PostgreSQL).
- Deep understanding of OLTP systems and their performance characteristics.
- Strong knowledge of database security, encryption, and access control best practices.
- Experience working with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
- Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Exposure to monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or CloudWatch.
- Familiarity with other RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a plus.
