Wat is Cyber Security (cyberbeveiliging)?

In het digitale tijdperk is vrijwel alle informatie digitaal, van de kleinste webshop tot cruciale defensiesystemen. Nu hele infrastructuren daarvan afhankelijk zijn, groeit de noodzaak om die gegevens te beschermen. Daar komt cybersecurity om de hoek kijken.

Cyberbeveiliging is een up-to-date, proactieve bescherming van digitale data die door een organisatie wordt opgeslagen, verzonden of verwerkt tegen kwaadwillenden (zowel extern als intern).

Cyberaanval

Een ‘cyberaanval’ of ‘Cyber Attack’ is een veelomvattende term waaronder illegale activiteiten vallen: gegevensdiefstal, identiteitsdiefstal, het aantasten van de integriteit van intellectuele gegevens, ongeautoriseerde toegang tot zeer geheime informatie, gegevensmanipulatie en nog veel meer cyberbedreigingen. Effectieve beveiliging

De evolutie van deze bedreigingen heeft ertoe geleid dat experts in cyberbeveiliging effectieve en efficiënte manieren hebben geïntroduceerd om de beveiliging van gegevens in systemen, netwerken, applicaties en databases te waarborgen. Om deze evolutie het hoofd te bieden is implementatie vereist van effectieve architecturale veranderingen in een netwerk, een geavanceerd gegevensbeschermingsbeleid, verbeterde cryptografische technieken, eersteklas penetratietests en hoogwaardige risicoanalyse van de mogelijke bedreigingen. Toch zullen technologie en processen alleen het aantal geslaagde aanvallen niet voldoende terugdringen; daarvoor zijn ook de juiste mensen nodig.

Het tekort aan cyberbeveiligingstalent
Bekwaam cyberbeveiligingspersoneel is moeilijk te vinden waardoor veel bedrijven tekort schieten op dit gebied. Volgens de 2019 (ISC)² Cybersecurity Workforce Study zijn er momenteel wereldwijd 2,8 miljoen bekwame cybersecurity-professionals en is er nog eens een gat van 4,07 miljoen te vullen.
