Software Developer C/C++ – Industrial Automation & Real-Time Systems (m/f/d)

THE ROLE

An established technology-driven engineering company is looking for a Software Developer (C/C++) to support the continued development of advanced industrial automation and control systems.

In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of software solutions for machine and system control, working closely with both hardware and software teams in a highly technical environment. The focus is on real-time systems, automation technology, and scalable software architectures.

This opportunity is suited to engineers who enjoy hands-on development, solving complex technical challenges, and working on systems used in real-world production environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement system and control concepts for industrial automation platforms based on real-time Linux
• Develop and integrate software modules such as real-time interfaces, PLC communication, and HMI components
• Validate hardware and software functionality, including performance, interface behaviour, and system stability
• Support the extension and maintenance of internal engineering and development toolchains
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, service, and design departments to gather and refine requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software quality, maintainability, and automation processes

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a comparable qualification
• Professional experience in software development or industrial automation environments is beneficial, though motivated junior candidates are also encouraged to apply
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Linux environments, ideally within real-time systems
• Experience with modern development environments and tools (e.g. VS Code, CLion, Git)
• Familiarity with industrial automation or control system development is advantageous
• Knowledge of PLC programming or automation platforms is a plus
• Experience with CI/CD environments (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins) is beneficial
• Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and independent working style
• Good written and spoken English skills
